Biography of Martin Payant
Martin Payant comes from a family with deep roots in the retail industry, being the grandson of a grocer. He is married and a father of two grown children and a grandson, and he holds a strong passion for the industry.
Martin graduated with a degree in Marketing from the University of Quebec in 1993 and has been with Unilever for over 28 years. His career has provided him with extensive experience in Canada's three largest markets, having spent nearly 10 years in Toronto and 3 years in Western Canada based in Calgary.
Before assuming his current role as Vice President and Chief Customer Officer, Martin served as the National Sales Director, overseeing retail operations, grocery channels, clubs, and drug. He has also held several positions within the organization in areas such as marketing, business strategies, and distribution.
Outside of Unilever Martin serves in several industry board: Chair of the CFIG AMC, Board of governor GS1 and the GS1 grocery board and more recently on the board of the grocery code of conduct.
